Description

Prakaram is a selective, broad-spectrum post-emergence herbicide containing Tembotrione 34.4% w/w SC. It is recommended for maize to control important grassy and broad-leaf weeds. It works through inhibition of the HPPD enzyme, disrupting carotenoid formation and causing bleaching and eventual death of susceptible weeds.

Mode of Action

Tembotrione inhibits the 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) enzyme. This interferes with carotenoid biosynthesis, resulting in chlorophyll bleaching and death of susceptible weeds. It is classified as an HPPD-inhibiting herbicide (HRAC Group 27).

Application Method

Apply as a post-emergence foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a suitable flat-fan nozzle. Application is generally made when weeds are young and actively growing, around the 3–5 leaf stage. Use a suitable surfactant where specified by the product label.
